As part of my review of the Geegeez Gold subscription area I had a closer look at the daily statistics based tips that have been running since November 2011, “Stat of the Day”.
Although Matt is keen to stress that he doesn’t want the tipping side to deflect from the rest of the site, which I have already found to be full of value, the fact remains that profitable tipping services that are affordable and practical are few and far between.
So given that SotD appears, on the surface at least, to be practical, profitable, AND affordable. It deserves further investigation and appraisal.
Here are the results since I’ve been keeping tabs on the service. Note that I’m not very consistent with the timing of picking up the tips from the site!

So far I’m building up a picture that suggests this service has a lot to offer, prices seem achievable and aren’t getting hammered on account of them getting tipped by SotD. (Although some prices have shortened as you see above, this seems organic in the main and checking the site earlier would benefit)
The day’s selections are presented with a write up normally spanning several paragraphs, covering not just the same old bumf but a plethora of stats relating to the specifics of the horse/trainer/conditions in question. Its obviously extremely well researched and a lot of thought and checks back up every single bet. So although there is a bet 6 days a week, and undoubtedly this means some selections will be weaker than others, there’s never a sense that a selection is put up just for the sake of it.
Results are recorded to BOG (best odds guaranteed) bookmaker prices, which generally beat SP and BSP in the long run, so this wouldn’t be ideal for someone with very limited access to BOG bookmakers, but for everyone else, the service is well worth considering.

The best priced option is £197 for 12 months full access to the whole Geegeez racecards tips and tools, you can also sign up for £24 a month. Bear in mind though that Matt has already sold out his “lifetime” membership options and its possible that the yearly price might go the same way if it proves popular.
Well I certainly picked a good month to review Stat of the Day, over the 1 month period I’ve recorded a profit of 18.46pts from 26 x 1 pt bets, that’s a return on investment of 71%.
The points to note about this service are as follows – the selections are often published the night before racing – this means that they are working on very early markets and often the prices quoted are with one bookmaker only. Generally speaking though, someone without a handful of closed accounts (like me) should be able to attain the quoted prices, particularly if checking the site at either late night or early morning for tips and price availability. The reporting of results on the site appears fair, all the R4 deductions are disclosed, and with a long term ROI of around 25%, the average monthly profit is about 6 or 7pts, so there’s room to spare if you miss the odd price. As with all services that are doing well there’s the risk that it could get over-subscribed, and prices get hard to attain, but right now this is a service that should be very near the top of the list if starting or expanding a betting portfolio.
