The PDC World championship darts is well under way – the venue Alexander Palace in North london, just up the road from where I was born. Ally Pally as it is affectionately known was the home of the very famous News of the world darts competion finals for many a year, that was the tounament that started with nearly every pub in the country entering their own champion, a massive competition in its time.
Now the big boys ply their trade at Ally Pally and this year I have a feeling that Phil ” The Power Taylor ” may not be crowned champion. He eased through his first round match however his average was pretty poor by his standards. My idea of the winner is Aussie Simon Whitlock who breezed through on Saturday night beating Steve Evans 3-0. Whitlock is currently 8/1 third favourite and is due to meet Taylor in the semi-finals. My £50 at 14/1 with BET365 is not looking too sad at the moment, sorry I will be cheering the Aussies on in this one.
How did England lose the Third test at the WACCA, I had £200 at 13/8 with BETFRED /BET365 before the first ball was bowled, after England had skittled the home side out for 268 and then made 29-0 on the first day, England were 4/7 shots and the Aussies 9/2 – I did consider trading £40 at 9/2 to cover my stake – that thought disappeared when England reached 78-0 – the rest is history.
The fourth test starts on boxing day in Melbourne and is too close to call – I have backed the series to finish 1-1 £25 @ 20/1 with TOTESPORT and 2-2 for £75.00 @ 15/2 with BETFRED. Anything could happen especially as the Aussies look like they are preparing a quick green wicket at the MCG.
My comment about ” ALL WEATHER RACING ” was spot on today as Wolverhampton’s Poly-Track was declared unfit after a 6.30am Inspection – another blank racing day.
Still Man City and Everton do battle tonight and I can see the toffee’s nicking a point at snowy Eastlands, I have backed Everton on the Asian handicap with a goal start £100 @ 1.65 with BET365.
Happy viewing tonight and keep the faith
